You never know who you will run in to on Halloween. You might see hundreds of Michael Jackson's walking the gamut of the King of Pop's whole career. You might see Donald Trump running companionably down the street with Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. President Barack Obama might be getting in to a automobile with Elvis and Princess Diana. Like I said, you never know who you will run in to on Halloween.
Like with Britney Spears for example. Pretty, golden haired teen sensation or unbalanced, shaven head and media circus look; which do you pick? It is based on whether you were a fan and then lost interest, are an ardent supporter or in case you were always a diehard Britney hater from the outset. The same kind of decisions holds for Paris Hilton and other pseudo-celebrities. And don't think that men are stuck being Jackson, Elvis or a former president, they have other choices as well. From the Donald to William Shatner, there's lots of celebrities for men to pick from as well. They might even pick to be a beefy version of Paris or Britney, you never know.
Dressing like celebrities is nothing new and some people try to do it every day, although not to this extreme. (They hope!) They pick the celebrity that they most admire or most despise on Halloween. They pick the attributes that they would like to have or need to mock and deride. They find the best ways to either bring ourselves up to what they perceive the celebrity level to be or they find the ways they can, in some small way bring them down to our own level.
There will always be celebrities because the average person is fascinated to look away from their lives. And, there will always be celebrity look-alikes because there is sizable money to be had with the profession, for the right person. They will always have celebrity Halloween costumes as well, because when else are you able to pull on your barely there black leather and spandex, your long black wig and belt out Cher tunes?
